Happy Friday everyone.  Another hot week here and I am really hoping for some relief soon.

I have decided that when Second Chances is finished, offering it in both print and eBook form over here.  My novel “Fire and Ice”  is up there in eBook format but the sales of the print copies are still over at Fireball Publishing.

In today’s installment, its all about the Oscar after parties and Beth realizing that the movie is almost complete and will have to say good bye to Rob soon.

Flyers Win! May 24, 2010

Filed under: Fire and Ice,Update, fiction — Karen @ 11:27 pm

I know it has been a while since I posted last the tale of Beth and Rob.  This will be fixed shortly but in the mean time I am celebrating the Philadelphia Flyers win tonight over the Montreal Canadians and winning the Eastern Conference.

Over at Fireball Publishing, the publisher of my Hockey Novel Fire and Ice, has agreed to offer a discount on it until game time (8pm ET) on Saturday, May 29th.  A $4.90 discount has been applied to Fire and Ice in honor of the amazing work of the goalie, Michael Leighton (#49).

This is a limited time offer since stock of my novel is dwindling.

It can be purchased over in the “bookstore”.

Buy my book and enjoy the rest of the playoffs!

Aria’s Song – Chapter 44 – Last chapter! October 2, 2009

Filed under: Fire and Ice,fan-fic — Karen @ 12:55 pm

Wow, I can’t believe that “Aria’s Song” came out to be 44 chapters.

I really hope everyone enjoyed my fan fic because I loved writing it.  Picard is my Captain just like Tom Baker is my Doctor (Dr. Who) and he was fun to play with.

Have no fear, the stories will keep coming but the next one is not a fan fic but an original fiction, called “Second Chances”,  I wrote right after “Aria’s Song”.  It takes an interesting twist right away and carried Aria into the story for one more spin.  But more on that on Monday.  (I’m so excited to let Beth and Rob out I can barely stand it!)

But now its time for the big announcement!  I had mentioned a give away at the end of the story.  Well, here it is….

I will choose one random reader to receive an autographed  copy of my first book in print called “Fire and Ice”.  Anyone can enter (once) except for family.  All you have to do is leave a comment below telling me your favorite part of “Aria’s Song”.  You have until Wednesday, October 7th at 5pm (Eastern Time) to post your comments.  I’ll announce the winner on Friday’s post.

For More information and the first chapter, you can visit my publisher’s site, Fireball Publishing, for more info.

And without further adieu, here’s the final chapter of “Aria’s Song” – Chapter 44

A writer’s delema November 17, 2008

Filed under: Fire and Ice,Update, writing — Karen @ 7:31 pm

I have a bit of a problem.  This month I am supposed to be working on my NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) novel but I am totally not motivated to write it.  Instead, I find myself working on other projects – the Gwen and the Tara stories – I have in progress.

I’m getting the words in and all that good jazz but just not on the piece I’m supposed to work on.  The point of NaNoWriMo is to turn off the internal editor that plagues every writer and just write and get the story down.  There’s plenty of time to edit and do reconstructive surgery on it after November is over.  I just can’t get my mind into the story at the moment.

It’s very annoying for this to be happening especially since I’m supposed to be working on the next installment in the “Fire and Ice” series.  I have all these fun things to do with Bobbie, Connor and the rest of the crew but I just can’t get my fingers to cooperate with my mind.  I’m sure I’ll get FAI2 done, maybe switching to “old school” (aka paper and pen) will do the trick.

On another note, “Fire and Ice” is selling well and I’m happy to get such great feedback on it.  If you haven’t ordered your copy, do it soon since there is a very limited number of copies for sale and we are unsure if we will do a second printing of it when they are all gone.

Happy Halloween! October 31, 2008

Filed under: Fire and Ice,Update, names — Karen @ 11:03 pm

Happy Halloween everyone!  I hope everyone was safe and got tons of candy.  My kids sure did.  (Gotta love those Recess Cups!)

I’m now sitting here, getting ready for the 2008 National Novel Writing Month to begin in just over an hour from now.  For the month of November I will be writing the sequal to “Fire and Ice” even though I have the thrid and fourth in the series written.  I know, its silly of my not to have written year 2 before going for 3 and 4 but I blame my inspiration for the little time warp.

I’m looking forward to getting back to writing new stuff for Bobbie and the rest of the Philadelphia Fire.  One of the hardest parts is deciding who to cut or trade from the team.  At least I know who has to stick around for the season if they appear in book 3 or 4.

So, now I need a title for book 2.  I’ve got a few ideas running around but nothing is really getting me at the moment.  I’d love to hear any suggestions!

Just a reminder, “Fire and Ice” is on sale both in digital and print formats at www.FireballPublishing.net!

I’m up on Twitter October 20, 2008

Filed under: Fire and Ice,Update — Karen @ 10:33 pm

I’ve decided to try Twitter out.  To get inside my brain a bit more, you can follow me at http://twitter.com/KarenWriter.

With me doing the 2008 National Novel Writing Month starting on November 1st I’m sure I’ll be either “tweeting” with ideas to “Fire and Ice”s sequal or when I’m procrastinating writing it.

They’re in!

Filed under: Fire and Ice,Update — Karen @ 8:47 am

The books came in Friday and look fantastic!  I could have not imagined them to look any better.  It’s almost too much to see my own book in print.

“Fire and Ice” has been in my computer since 2003 and I’ve worked hard on it for over the past year to get it ready to send out to the world.  I hope the world enjoys it because I truly enjoyed writing it and all the other stuff that goes into making a book.

I’ve learned a lot during the process and know that I have so much more to learn but I’ve got many stories to tell and now that I’ve gotten it all started, I can’t see me ever stopping.

So, if you like what you’ve read so far, please go over to my publisher’s site and buy a copy (little bit of begging there).  The adventure is just beginning for Bobbie and Connor!
