Second Chances – Chapter 56 July 23, 2010

Happy Friday everyone.  Another hot week here and I am really hoping for some relief soon.

I have decided that when Second Chances is finished, offering it in both print and eBook form over here.  My novel “Fire and Ice”  is up there in eBook format but the sales of the print copies are still over at Fireball Publishing.

In today’s installment, its all about the Oscar after parties and Beth realizing that the movie is almost complete and will have to say good bye to Rob soon.

Second Chances – Chapter 55 July 21, 2010

Wow, I can’t believe how long this story turned out to be.  And there is still much more to come.  Some of my favorite scenes from this story haven’t happened yet.

Even though there are many more chapters left, I have started to think about which story would be the one to follow.  Should I polish up “The Reluctant King” or “Going Home”?  I still have  lots of stories  in the “Second Chances” series but I feel I need to fill in more blanks in the overall time line before those can be published.

I’d love to hear about what you, the readers would like to read next.  “The Reluctant King” is the story of Richard, the future King of Merlandia who was never expecting to be king and how he makes the transition from solider to King with the help of his best friends younger sister.  There is a follow up story, “The Reluctant Queen” but more on that one later.

“Going Home” is the story of what happens when friends are reunited after many years.  Much was unsaid when they were young and both have gone through so much.  Will returns to his hometown with a new job and discovers that his best friend from High School, Maggie, lives next door.

Let me know what you guys think should be the next story.

So, with that said, let’s get back to Beth and Rob as they arrive at the Oscars.

Flyers Win! May 24, 2010

Filed under: Fire and Ice,Update, fiction — Karen @ 11:27 pm

I know it has been a while since I posted last the tale of Beth and Rob.  This will be fixed shortly but in the mean time I am celebrating the Philadelphia Flyers win tonight over the Montreal Canadians and winning the Eastern Conference.

Over at Fireball Publishing, the publisher of my Hockey Novel Fire and Ice, has agreed to offer a discount on it until game time (8pm ET) on Saturday, May 29th.  A $4.90 discount has been applied to Fire and Ice in honor of the amazing work of the goalie, Michael Leighton (#49).

This is a limited time offer since stock of my novel is dwindling.

It can be purchased over in the “bookstore”.

Buy my book and enjoy the rest of the playoffs!

No chapter friday January 31, 2010

Filed under: Update — Karen @ 12:09 am

Sorry I did not post a new chapter yesterday.  My husband left for Iraq yesterday (Friday) and I really wasn’t up to posting a new chapter.  There will be something new on Monday somewhere between Noon and 2 ET but I just needed to take the moment to tend to my family and myself.

Hope everyone is enjoying the story so far.  Rob and Beth are a great pair of characters to write and they will be showing up in future stories.

Thank you for understanding my pause in the story.  Things will return to normal on Monday.

Beth and Rob find a place to practice on their own and Beth’s day gets a bit worse.

Chapter 12

Over the next week, I will probably not be able to post on Twitter that the new chapters are up due to unknown internet capabilities while I’m on vacation.  But have no fear!  The chapters will keep coming next Monday, Wednesday and Friday like always.

Happy Halloween everyone.  Don’t eat too much candy!

Chapter 3 of Aria’s Song June 30, 2009

Wow, formatting is fun! (Not)

I’m happy to announce that chapter 3 is now up and running.  In case you missed my small announcement earlier today, I had to split chapter 1 into two separate chapters so do not fear if you think you missed something after reading chapter one.  Nothing was taken out, just re-formatted.

Let me know what you think of the story so far.  I love to hear what you think.  Writers are very needy people and need reassurance.

The Retrospect has caught the “Fire” December 20, 2008

Filed under: Update — Karen @ 11:56 am

Don’t worry, there are no newspapers that are burning to the ground.  I was interviewed recently by The Retrospect, a local paper here in South Jersey.  The interview is on page 9 on this week’s paper.  The Retrospect does have a very nice online version, but page 9 is only in print.  I would highly recommend running out and getting a copy in you live in the area!

New site! December 5, 2008

In addition to writing, I decided to start an additional site for all the cool/fun things in life called Sarchix.com.

This site will stay open, just like always but this is just a fun site I started.  Its mostly about crafting and fun things I have found web surfing, but also all the things I enjoy in the real world too.  It’s all “good” things and no whining allowed (even by me).

I hope that you go on over and check it out.  If you like it, stay a while and let me know what you like too, what makes you smile as we go though this crazy thing called life.

Happy Thanksgiving! November 27, 2008

Filed under: Update — Karen @ 12:30 am

The holidays are here with the kick off all the craziness that is the holiday season.  I can’t stand any Christmas song played before today.

I’ve baked and roasted my part of the family feast that we will be sitting down to later today and the house smells so good.  (Pumpkin pie, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin cake thing, turkey and some assorted veggies – Mom’s bringing the rest.)

In addition to my writing, I will be attending the town’s holiday parade (weather permitting) with the kiddies and that’s about all I have planned and hope to keep it that way.  Oh, and I’m hoping to get some serious Christmas crafting/present making done as well on this glorious 4 day weekend.

So to all of you, both in the USA and not, Merry Merry.

A writer’s delema November 17, 2008

Filed under: Fire and Ice,Update, writing — Karen @ 7:31 pm

I have a bit of a problem.  This month I am supposed to be working on my NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) novel but I am totally not motivated to write it.  Instead, I find myself working on other projects – the Gwen and the Tara stories – I have in progress.

I’m getting the words in and all that good jazz but just not on the piece I’m supposed to work on.  The point of NaNoWriMo is to turn off the internal editor that plagues every writer and just write and get the story down.  There’s plenty of time to edit and do reconstructive surgery on it after November is over.  I just can’t get my mind into the story at the moment.

It’s very annoying for this to be happening especially since I’m supposed to be working on the next installment in the “Fire and Ice” series.  I have all these fun things to do with Bobbie, Connor and the rest of the crew but I just can’t get my fingers to cooperate with my mind.  I’m sure I’ll get FAI2 done, maybe switching to “old school” (aka paper and pen) will do the trick.

On another note, “Fire and Ice” is selling well and I’m happy to get such great feedback on it.  If you haven’t ordered your copy, do it soon since there is a very limited number of copies for sale and we are unsure if we will do a second printing of it when they are all gone.
