I can’t believe it’s May already! May 2, 2008

April seemed to fly by, like most months seem to do. I have to report that I did not “win” Script Frenzy this year but I still feel very accomplished for getting as far as I did.

I wrote 70 pages out of the 100 page goal. I know what needs to be done to finish it up I just ran out of time. I know I could list all the reasons why I did not finish on time, but really it just came down to me and I accept that. (It didn’t help that I watched WAY too many hockey playoff games towards the end too.)

How I see the whole thing, if I had buckled down just a bit harder I would have gotten there but at the same time, I’ve never written a script before so there was a bit of a learning curve to the process. I know there are mistakes in it but I don’t care about that at the moment. That’s something for a workshop or some kind of teacher to help me through. The cool thing is, I wrote 70% or so of a movie script! That feels real good. “Winning” would have been icing on the cake.

The best thing is, there is always next year!

Lemonade anyone???

Filed under: Update — Karen @ 12:51 am

In chatting with Hubby today about the NHL playoffs, I discovered something kind of funny and VERY scary.

The Philly Flyers are doing well (and I hope that I don’t jinx them by writing that) so far in the playoff series.  At the current moment, there is a chance they could go all the way.  (Yes, I know, it is a Philly sports team so they will probably choke sometime before winning it all but still…. I’m a Philly fan and that’s what we do.)

My book that is coming out in Oct 08 and was written YEARS ago.  For those who haven’t heard, its about a fictional professional hockey team who finished last in the league the previous season and then (without ruining the book) go to have a spectacular season and win the "cup".

Here’s my problem… If they win the "big show" and I publish in October, will it look like I used this season as a template for the story?  I’m hoping that hockey fans will buy my book and I don’t want to seem like I cheated them on the storyline even if there is a nice little note from the author about me writing this years ago.  This is very frustrating.

I need some sage advice.  HELP ME!!!!!!!!  I need to make some lemonade out of this possible lemon!

Oh, and GO FLYERS!
