Second Chances – Chapter 45 January 20, 2010

Back at home in the Los Angeles sub-urbs, Beth was glad to have her children and her good friend at home with her. It took her a while to recover from the jet lag and was glad that Harry’s schedule accommodated for it. All they had to do besides the odd left over scenes and a few voice-overs, was the shuttle craft scene and the four-day trip to the Napa Valley for the grand wedding scenes.

As soon as she returned to LA, Beth had to go for her final fittings for her wedding gown. Both Beth and Harry thought it was best for no one else to see the gown and her in it until it was time to shoot those scenes for the best possible reactions. It was also decided, the first day of shooting the wedding, once she began getting ready, she was to be kept away from everyone, much like a real bride. Harry had secured a room in the main house at the vineyard that they were working at for her dressing room so that she could be hidden. He wanted no one visiting her in that room, except for hair, makeup and a few selected assistants.

The gown was absolutely amazing, made of fine silk and pearls and was quite heavy. It would take her two people to help her dress the days of shooting in it and she wondered how Rob was going to carry her off in so much dress and the headpiece. There was easily twenty feet of dress behind her that she had to pull behind her as if it didn’t weigh a thing. But Aria was an amazing character and deserved to have an amazing gown, Beth was just lucky enough to wear it.

She hoped that Rob like it and was banking on his reactions for the movie. The wedding was the last thing the audience would see and Beth wanted to leave them feeling overwhelmed and happy, just like she did.

Beth was leaving the studio two days before everyone was to start shooting the final days of production in the beautiful vineyards of the Napa Valley, when Rob stopped her.

I’m so glad I caught you before you left,” Rob told her as she stood next to her car, with the driver inside.

Actually, I am in a bit of a hurry. I’m picking up my cars today.”

Cars? More than one?”

Yes, I am,” she said proudly. “Brian arranged it while we were away.”

So what are you getting?”

I am getting rid of the minivan for a BMW X-5, their SUV and a Z-8 for me to commute in.”

A Z-8?”

The James Bond car from the last movie. I asked for the duel flamethrowers but they wouldn’t give them to me. They said that was not one of their options,” she said jokingly.

I wonder why?” he said enjoying the joke with her.

She shrugged. “I don’t think I could get insurance if they did.”

I was going to ask you if you wanted to drive up to Napa with me tomorrow, but with your new purchases, I don’t think you would want to get near my Jag.”

If you don’t mind me driving, we could take mine?” she asked wondering how Rob felt about being driven around by a woman.

Um…sure. Why not,” he responded.

Great. I do have to get going or I’ll never get my cars. I’ll see you tomorrow. I was planning on leaving after breakfast so we can be there for a late supper.”

Okay, I will be by around nine then.” Rob then kissed Beth for the first time on the studio’s grounds in public.

Finally getting into the car, Beth said, “I’ll see you tomorrow,” and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and closed the car door. Beth felt giddy leaving Rob. She could still feel his lips on hers and smell his cologne. Things were moving nicely with Rob and looked forward to spending more time with him.
