They ran the scene a few more times and the following one where they get caught together walking back to the house, by her mother. Quickly, in the first take, Beth was able to get the scene with her “mother” done where they had one of those mother to daughter type conversations.

Feeling sweaty and gross, all Beth wanted was to take a shower before heading off to her sanctuary inside the house for hair and make up to finish the day. All Harry wanted to get accomplished was her entrance and at least one take on the wedding ceremony.

Beth, do you want to get some lunch?” Harry asked her.

I’d love to, but I have to get a shower first.”

Okay, I’ll be in the production trailer. I want to show you what we got today, so far.”

Beth nodded and quickly headed off to get showered and met Harry in the trailer a half hour later, with her bathrobe over a pair of sweatpants and hair dripping wet.

Come here, I want to show you this,” he said as he cued up the playback. “Here, watch this.” Beth saw herself on the tape running and watched the scenes with Rob.

Beth, did you see that?” Harry asked.

Saw what, exactly?”

The chemistry between you two. I wanted you to see this so that we get the right reaction later today. I want to do as much of the ceremony without stopping. We have then cameras getting all the angles.”

Why non-stop?” she asked.

I want the reaction of everyone seeing you for the first time, just like a real wedding.”

Won’t the camera and cables get in the shot?”

No, not the way we have it rigged up. So do you think you are ready for it?”

I will be. Thanks for having scheduling a little extra time for preparations.”

I just want to get the right mood for the picture. I’ll send someone up to make sure you have everything you need.”

You are a genius. I’ll see you in a few hours.” Beth got up and made her way to the bedroom in the farmhouse that was her dressing room on set. All that was in the room was a makeup chair with a mirror and table and a few scattered tables and chairs. By one of the large windows that was draped with sheer white curtains that let the sunlight pour through but yet gave her some privacy, was an overstuffed large chair. Beth also saw that her gown had been delivered, still on the dressmaker’s manikin.

Walking over to the dress, she slowly touched the folds of silk. The fabric was so delicate; it was like touching a cloud. Beth could barely believe that she was to wear such an exquisite garment with the silk ribbon roses that adorned the gown and the soft bow with grouped roses just above it where it bustled. It was so beautiful, more than the gown she had worn for her own wedding. The only thing she would have changed would have been the color, it wasn’t a pure white. The details of the dress would not show up as well on film so it was a very soft antique white, which would seem white on film.

As she looked at the dress she was to wear in a few hours she thought about how busy but wonderful the day that she married Joe. They had so much love for each other. Beth hadn’t been nervous that day, but she did remember being so excited and happy that she was almost bouncing off the walls to be marrying Joe. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

Jolted back to the present, Beth called out, “Who is it?”

Danny, Harry’s assistant. He wanted me to see if you needed anything,” the voice said.

Beth opened the door and let Danny in. “Thanks, could you have some water and diet soda sent up? And do you know when hair and makeup are scheduled for?”

He consulted his papers on a clipboard. “Uh, Billy and Paula will be here in an hour. Anything else?” he said about to walk away.

Just the water and soda. Thank you,” she said and closed the door. Beth sat down in the big chair after getting a book out of her bag. Beth though it was very nice to be alone to collect her thoughts. From the window, between the curtains, she could see workers putting the finishing touches on the garden chapel, the white chairs in neat rows leading up the to the small stage like alter. It was quite different from the Catholic Church wedding she had eight years ago. But this time she was to be surrounded by her new friends and strangers instead of the family and lifetime friends.

Beth’s water and sodas were brought in as she gazed out the window. She was amazed by how quickly her life had changed again and this time she was happy about the course of events. Here she was with people to make her look beautiful, to dress her in the finest clothes. Money was never going to be a problem for neither her nor her children and her co-workers were those that she had watched in movies and never thought that she would meet them let alone call them her friends. Then there was Rob. Rob was a bit of a mystery to her. There was something happening between them, but she was concerned about what her true feelings really were and what was just carried over from work.

Every time he touched her, it made her want to melt into him. Handsome, smart and seemed to really be interested in her, her family and her happiness Rob was more than she could have imagined he could be. She had really enjoyed the time they spent together both alone and with others. Beth felt like a lady when she was with him, not that Joe hadn’t treated her as an equal, but she had become a woman with Joe, they had learned together to make the transition into adulthood. Now she was all woman, but had so much more to discover about herself.
